SEMA: Gentex to Demonstrate All-New Full Display Mirror on Nissan's GT-R LM NISMO Race Car

At this year's SEMA show, Gentex Corporation will demonstrate several new products, including its all-new Full Display Mirror (FDM™) on Nissan's GT-R LM NISMO race car, the passenger-vehicle version of this innovative technology, and an exclusive GNTX-R™ product series with a racing-inspired theme.

The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show is the premier automotive specialty products trade event in the world. This year's show takes place November 3-6, 2015, at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Gentex's booth at SEMA (booth# 11679) will feature one of Nissan's GT-R LM NISMO race cars equipped with a complete rear vision package comprised of glare-eliminating exterior mirrors and a Full Display Mirror system.

The FDM system consists of a custom, high-dynamic-range imager that captures video of the vehicle's rearward view and streams it to a unique mirror-integrated display. These same technologies debuted on Nissan's GT-R LM NISMO race car during the grueling 24 Hours of Le Mans earlier this year.

"Gentex is an Official Technical Partner of the Nissan GT-R LM NISMO, so we're incredibly honored to have one of Nissan's race cars in our SEMA booth this year," said Craig Piersma, Gentex director of marketing. "Our work on the Nissan race car pushed our development teams and our integration engineers to design a Full Display Mirror system that could handle the ultimate test of performance in the 24 hours of Le Mans. This development work helped us perfect our Full Display Mirror system, which we just began shipping for OEM applications this quarter."

Gentex's SEMA display will showcase the OEM production version of its FDM technology as well as demonstrate potential future FDM functionality.

The Gentex FDM is distinctive in that it offers bi-modal performance. In mirror mode, the product functions as a standard automatic-dimming rearview mirror. With the flip of a switch, the mirror enters display mode, and a clear, bright display appears through the mirror's reflective surface, providing a wide, unobstructed rearward view.

Gentex's experience with racing helped inspire the GNTX-R Series, an all-new, limited-run, custom-engineered product line designed exclusively for integration into high-profile show cars and OEM prototype vehicles desiring a racing aesthetic. The first product in the series is an automatic-dimming rearview mirror featuring the Company's frameless glass technology, a super slim profile, and a carbon fiber inlay with brightwork accents.
