Environmentally-Friendly UV Resistant Coatings

Ocean State Hot Coat, a new company, is serving the region with custom powder coating of car frames, motorcycles and marine parts, and other metal items. Fast becoming the preferred choice in high quality resistant finishes, the powder coating process offers a waterproof, rustproof, dent and chip resistant finish for interior and exterior uses. All powder coatings are protective and decorative and guard against ultraviolet rays, abrasion, corrosion, and resist cracking and peeling.

Matt Dolber, founder of the shop, has extensive auto body painting and custom hot rod building experience. He is currently involved in a number of exciting projects, including work on a Rancher 420 4x4ES. This ATV will be powder coated in Xtreme Chrome, giving it a vibrant silver finish. On display in Honda Suzuki World in Warwick, viewers can see the wide range of color possibilities.

"This very new and green process is kind to the environment as NO solvents are used, and is quickly taking over as the choice finish for everything from bikes and cars to boats and outdoor furniture. Results are uniform and without the drips so often the result of painted applications," states Matt. A Powder Coating Institute survey indicates that this is now the fastest growing finishing process in North America, with no issues of hazardous air pollutants.

Starting with clean metal services that are coated with colored powder and then cured in an oven, the powder forms the very durable finish that is so attractive and weather-resistant. OCEAN STATE HOT COAT will custom-color match, or provide a variety of off-the-shelf colors. The nearly endless selection features high and low gloss colors, metallics and clear coats. Textured finishes easily hide surface defects and imperfections, while marbled coatings give a distressed or antique look. Pearlized powders add luster and sheen to the metal. "If custom color is what you want, I can do it," says Matt, Rhode Island's powder coating specialist, who is assisted by Dennis Nihill.

Automotive and motorcycle industries are steadily increasing their use of powder coating, particularly for parts that require extra protection. The applications are unlimited and work well for wheels, roll bars, engine blocks, battery trays and more ... the list is endless.

Matt Dolber invites visitors to his shop to see his workmanship and the dazzling array of colors. According to Matt, "You will easily agree that powder coating is the best choice for coated parts that require a durable, high quality finish".
