The report states that in 2011, the U.S. market revenue for lighting products and ceiling fans through retailers was worth US $ 5,505 M. Between the year 2011 and 2016, it is predicted to reach US$ 6,356 M in 2016 at a CAGR of 2.9%. The ceiling fan segment amounted to US $1,155.1 M in 2011, representing 20.9% of the U.S. lighting products and ceiling fan market. The outdoor lanterns market segment will experience a rapid revenue growth at a CAGR of 5.1% from 2011 to 2016. The volume of the U.S. ceiling fan products was 13.5 M units in 2011 reaching 1.6% over 2010.

The channels for commercializing the products within the U.S. lighting products market include home improvement stores, specialty stores, small retailers, discount stores, and electric departmental stores. The Home Depot and Lowe's are the Home improvement stores that account for a large number of sales of lighting products through channels.

Eight retailers were analyzed for this research. It includes Costco, The Home Depot, Lowe's, Bed Bath & Beyond, Target, Menards, Walmart, and Sam's Club. In addition, among the nine lighting product categories, ceiling fans were the leading segment based on revenue; while based on unit sales, floor lamps represented the largest product category.

Retailer-assisted overall lighting products revenue will grow at a CAGR of 2.9% from 2011 – 2016, attaining US$ 6,356 M in 2016 from US$ 5,505 M in 2011. Floor lamps will represent 20.6% share for retailers' lighting products revenue in 2016. The ceiling fan segment will represent 20.1% revenue share in 2016. Lowe's is the next largest retailer after The Home Depot.
