Diagnostic Imaging Northwest Introduces Extremity 1.5 Tesla MRI Scanner

Diagnostic Imaging Northwest (DINW) has declared the launch of a new, advanced MRI system called the extremity 1.5 Tesla MRI scanner.

The GE Optima is Northwest’s first diagnostic high-field extremity MRI. This specialty GE Optima is specifically designed for complex, specific MRI examinations for areas including the elbow, ankle wrist, foot, knee, and hand.

The new GE Optima features a robust 1.5T magnet that surpasses those of a standard MRI system, ensuring excellent image quality. The images resulting from the versatile design of novel GE Optima will be clear and accurate, yielding consistent diagnosis with less mobility.

One of the unique benefits with GE optima is its position flexibility during operation. The patients are provided with a padded chair beside the scanner to experience more relaxed extremity scanning for whole-body systems. With this new open design, the frequency of claustrophobia in patients can be controlled.

According to DINW Medical Director, Dr. Barbara Blankenship, DINW’s main objective is to provide an appropriate MRI scanner with increased quality and reliability. As the patient’s positions are not comfortable with traditional full-body MRI system, this novel system improves comfort, besides reducing the patient’s anxiety during treatment. It also allows adults to accompany children in the exam room.

The CEO of DINW, Keith Arnzen said that this new GE Optima MRI facilitates the patients to remain proximal to the system where the system comes in contact only with the targeted part of the body. The procedure is comparatively simple and serves to be an innovative tool for the community health care providers, thereby benefiting several patients.
