NBN chooses one pass products from 3M in order to provide fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) service to 93% of the country’s sites.
Supporting Australia’s National Broadband Network (NBN), 3M was recently granted a multi-year contract to supply retro-fit cable pathways providing a novel, open access high-speed broadband network to all residents of Australia. The contract has been estimated to be worth $20M over five years. The One Pass products were opted because it is cost-effective with increase in revenues while offering proprietors a quick and simple way to access their tenants with advanced services like high-speed broadband.
3M’s One Pass Fiber Pathway and One Pass Mini Fiber Pathway are intended to supply fiber connectivity to multi-dwelling units (MDUs). The One Pass Fiber Pathway hallway solution reformed FTTP network installation for MDUs with its perfectly flexible design and employing 900µ fiber within the pathway making it small and more discrete when compared to traditional products. The installation cost conservation is up to 35% on each floor where the One Pass product is installed and this facility has been adopted in a dozen of countries. Within the living unit, the One Pass Mini Fiber Pathway connects to a hallway distribution cable accessed near the apartment door and is routed to a wall outlet located near an optical network terminal (ONT). Like the One Pass Fiber Pathway, the One Pass Mini also employs the unique 3M adhesive technology assuring reliable installation on varied surfaces. Both the products facilitate noiseless installation, uphold signal integrity and distribute a high-performance broadband solution in an ordinary package, suitable for schools, hospitals, hotels and small businesses.
