Banner Engineering Introduces L-GAGE LH Series Laser Sensor for Quality Control

US based Banner Engineering has launched the L-GAGE LH Series laser sensor to measure thickness and displacement on all kinds of materials such as rubber, ceramic, wood, metal and plastic.

L-Gage LH Series Laser Sensor

The non-contact sensor is equipped with a 1024 pixel CMOS linear imager that can attain a resolution of 1 µm in normal conditions.

The sensor can measure thickness and displacement up to high resolutions of 4-20 mA or RS-485 serial communication outputs. The sensor does not need require external control as it has two sensors built in to measure thickness and can be used in a network of up to 32 sensors. This feature enables users to perform more than one inspection. Additionally the sensor can be positioned on small targets as it has a narrow laser spot. The sensor also comes with a graphical user interface (GUI), which enables the user to set up the sensor easily and monitor performance by adjusting various parameters such as sample size, analogue output scaling and averaging. All the data can be stored in file and can be displayed in real time. As a result resolving installation issues becomes easier. The linear imager of the sensor enables it to be used on a wide range of surfaces, colours and materials. All the above features make it ideal for usage in applications where movement of machine parts and processes are involved and measurement without contact is necessary.
