OFS and Furukuwa Electric have rolled out new, advanced FITEL hand-held fusion splicers. The S123M12 and S123M8 fusion splicers have reduced operation time, while their power saving technology enables a maximum of 160 splicing cycles with two new battery configurations. Both S123M12 and S123M8 fusion splicers are successors to the S122M12 and the S122M8 models, respectively.
The splicing time for 8 or 12 ribbon count fiber is 15 sec, while the protection sleeve shrink time for the ribbon fiber sleeve is 35 sec. Both fusion splicers use a similar platform, which is the same as the FITEL S178A/S153A/S123C/S123M4 fusion splicers. The splicers are designed to withstand adverse operating conditions by enhancing shock resistance with rubber pads that are fixed on the four corners of the splicer. The machines are resistant to dust and water.
The fusion splicers are suitable for installers who are required to splice 8/12 ribbon and 4 ribbon. The machines can splice fibers with a maximum of 12 and 8 ribbons by altering the fiber holders in any kind of field where consistent and quick splicing is necessary.
OFS and FEC provide a complete series of hand-held fusion splicers such as the FITEL S153 Active Clad Align fusion splicer and the FITEL S178 Core Align fusion splicer.
