VisionCare's Telescope Implant for Macular Degeneration Receives FDA Approval

VisionCare Ophthalmic Technologies, Inc., a developer of advanced visual prosthetic devices for the treatment of age-related macular degeneration (AMD), today announced the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved the Implantable Miniature Telescope (by Dr. Isaac Lipshitz) for use in patients living with bilateral end-stage age-related macular degeneration who are age 65 or older. The telescope implant is the only FDA approved surgical device for end-stage AMD and is Medicare eligible.

pureLiFi Turns Off-the-Shelf LED Light Fixtures into Wireless Access Points

pureLiFi, the light communications technology company, has produced the world’s first Li-Fi network by turning off-the-shelf LED light fixtures into wireless access points. The company has produced all the necessary components for the “atto-cellular” communication system that can serve multiple mobile users at the same time (multi-user access), allowing them to move around inside a room or premises while seamlessly connecting to the best serving light bulb (also termed “handover”).

Municipality of Uruapan Awards LED Lighting Contract to ForceField Energy

ForceField Energy Inc. ("ForceField"), a designer, seller and distributor of energy products and solutions today announced the signing of an LED lighting agreement with the municipality of Uruapan ("Uruapan"), Mexico. The shared savings agreement is expected to generate approximately $8.4 million in revenue for ForceField over a ten year period for the supply and installation of over 15,000 LED streetlights for all municipal roads and highways in Uruapan.

Resolution Spectra Releases Ultra-High Resolution Miniature Spectrometer for Laser Characterization

The MICRO Spectra ultra-high resolution miniature spectrometer for laser characterization from Resolution Spectra Systems now offers a 10 measurements per second capability in order to optimize the visualization of wavelength and modes stability and to follow manual operating point search of lasers such as ECDL, VCSEL, DFB, YAG. Based on innovative SWIFTS technology, the small and easy-to-use device provides a resolution of ~0.01 nm in the 630- to 1083-nm range with a long-life factory calibration.
