Ariel Industrial Laser Power Sensors for Industrial Applications

By measuring the energy of short exposure to power, the Ariel measures high-power industrial lasers up to 8 kW. The laser's pulse duration ranges from 0.05 to several seconds. The Ariel then determines the power by measuring the laser pulse's energy and duration.

Software

PC Software and Drivers

This section explains several software options and methods for interfacing the Ophir meter to the PC.

StarLab

When used in conjunction with an Ophir meter, the StarLab application transforms a PC or laptop into a complete laser power/energy meter. Most Ophir laser power/energy sensors are supported.

On a single PC, up to eight sensors can be displayed simultaneously. Users can operate the device from their own application by employing the Ophir COM Object.

Ariel, Centauri, StarBright, StarLite, Juno, Juno+, Juno-RS, Nova II, Vega, Pulsar-1/2/4, Quasar, EA-1, and Ariel devices are all supported.

StarViewer

With StarViewer, users can use their iOS or Android smartphone as a portable Ophir laser power/energy measurement device.

StarViewer’s iOS version is compatible with the Ariel sensor. Ariel, Juno, and Quasar interfaces are compatible with the Android version of StarViewer.

The Ariel power meter is a sturdy, battery-operated device that does not need water or fan cooling and is small enough to fit in the palm of the hand. It is designed for OEM and end-user applications in restricted and confined environments, such as additive manufacturing, metal cutting, and welding.

The device monitors laser powers ranging from 200 mW to 8 kW across a variety of wavelengths, including green and blue lasers, which are becoming increasingly common in copper welding, with wavelengths between 440 and 550 nm.
