Leica Microsystems Introduces Series of Microscopes Specifically for Polarizing Examinations

Leica Microsystems introduces a series of microscopes designed specifically for polarizing examinations.

New Series of Polarizing Microscopes from Leica Microsystems for Geosciences and Industry

Leica's new microscopes offer superb polarization contrast and are ergonomically designed to be comfortable, easy-to-use, and adaptable down to the last detail. Designed for a wide variety of applications, such as petrography; mineralogy; and glass, synthetic, and fiber analysis, the new Leica polarizing microscopes show how easy and reliable microscopy can be. Whether for sophisticated research, routine applications or vocational/academic training, Leica Microsystems can configure a polarizing microscope to meet individual needs with a variety of application-specific camera systems and software modules for fast, convenient image documentation.

The Leica DM4500 P offers a level of automation that anticipates the user's next work step. The automated diaphragm, condenser, and light intensity settings; and color-neutral intensity adjustment; allow the user to fully concentrate on the sample and not on the microscope's functions. The clearly designed display makes all relevant information readily available. The displayed microscope settings are automatically saved and can be reproduced at any time. The perfect interaction between the display and the software reliably guides the user through the microscope's functions to produce the best images.

The Leica DM4500 P's parameters can also be set manually. The new, fully integrated conoscopy module ensures highly precise images and delivers more information from the sample.

The Leica DM2500 P for routine applications offers a high level of comfort and adaptation to individual needs. Height-adjustable focus knobs adapt to any hand size for relaxed, comfortable operation. Via the color-coded diaphragm assistant (CDA), illumination is always matched to the objective. The built-in focus stop protects both the sample and the objective. With these features, the Leica DM2500 P offers a unique level of comfort and precision for its class. There is a choice of two conoscopy modules: the Advanced conoscopy module with a centerable, focusable Bertrand lens and extended field of view; and the Standard conoscopy module with a centerable Bertrand lens, built-in polarizer, and integrated pinhole for examining small grains. The Leica DM2500 P is equipped with a centerable 5-position objective nosepiece. The 4-position POL incident light axis for applications in brightfield, quantitative polarization, and fluorescence is ideal for mineralogical and geological examinations.

The Leica DM EP, ideal for vocational and academic training, provides precise, reliable imaging results. The Leica DM EP features a compact, rugged design, is easy to use, and is easily upgradable with a variety of accessories. Leica's high-quality optics combine with a standard Köhler field diaphragm and magnetically-fixed blue filter to produce crisp, sharp images. The Leica DM EP also offers a choice of two conoscopy modules.
