AU Optronics to Exhibit TFT-LCDs and Green Panels at eMex 2008

AU Optronics Corp. will exhibit a wide array of TFT-LCDs and full line products for different applications at eMEX 2008 (Electronic Manufacturer Exposition China), scheduled to be held from Oct. 16 to Oct. 19 at the Suzhou International Exhibition Center, China. AUO's exhibit this year highlights 65" Full HD LCD TVs and portrait PID panels that will be launched for the first time in China, ultra light 46-inch panels and 42-inch LED-backlit green TV panels. The exhibit will also include a series of white LED backlight notebook panels and a series of 16:9 LCD monitor panels.

With AUO's exhibition theme of "Experience the Innovation" at eMex 2008, many exciting technical advances will demonstrate our unflagging efforts under the four major domains of green innovations, including Energy Saving, Material Saving, Environment Friendly and Lean Design. Our implementation of full level eco-designs provides clients and consumers with next-generation green displays. Our eco-designs save on the usage of steel and at the same time maintain mechanical strength and optical performance. By saving on material and transportation costs, lightweight innovations are also reducing the impact on the environment.

Green Panels

AUO will demonstrate its green panels with a range of power-saving features and LED-backlit designs. AUO's new 46-inch LCD TV panels can reduce the module weight by 30%. With the innovative slim outlook design, the thickness of AUO's new 42-inch ultra slim LED TV panels is less than 10mm. AUO will also showcase a 42-inch green panel that can save on power consumption by up to 30%.

LCD TV and PID Applications

AUO will exhibit its Full HD LCD TV products family from 42-inch to 65- inch, demonstrating AUO's leading status in Full HD LCD TV products. The newly developed 46-inch LCD TV with built-in third generation AMVA technology will be a highlight in the exhibition. The contrast ratio is enhanced up to 5000:1. AUO's 65-inch LCD TV product also features 120Hz technology. Another major focus for AUO at eMex this year will be PIDs (Public Information Displays). AUO will demonstrate 65-inch Full HD portrait LCD panels in China for the first time. With a portrait backlight mode design, it can reach a high brightness at 700 nits, making Full HD portrait LCD panels the optimum choice for PIDs.

Information Display Applications

AUO will showcase a series of 16:9 LCDs for MoniTV panels, including 21.5- inch and 24-inch MoniTV panels with Full HD support. With fashionable outlook and power-saving functions, AUO will demonstrate its full series of notebook PC panels with White LED backlights, including 12.1-inch, 13.3-inch and 15.4- inch. With polish techniques and material replacements, the thickness of the ultra thin, extra light 13.3-inch notebook PC panel is only 2.8mm, weighing only 216 grams. It maintains 300 nits of high brightness and a 500:1 high contrast ratio.

For small to medium panels applications, AUO will showcase a series of panels from 2.7-inch to 10.4-inch this year. With a wide array display of full product lines from 2.7-inch mobile applications to 65-inch TV and PID panels, AUO will be the exhibitor that demonstrates the widest display application range and size at eMex 2008. At the eMex opening ceremony on Oct. 16, Mr. Jackie Hsu, the managing director of AUO Suzhou, will also represent AUO to receive the grand award as the recognition of long-term support to eMex.
