Queensgate’s Ultra-Compact Long-Range Piezo Stage Offers Best-In-Class High-Performance Positioning

The NPS-Z-500C piezo stage from Queensgate provides unrivalled position precision and accuracy for a wide range of microscopy and materials inspection applications. Its small footprint allows easy integration into instrumentation and test equipment, making it ideal for customized projects.

The stage moves 500 µm in a closed loop, maintaining a flat platform over the full travel range due to its low error motions. It also has a rotational error of just 0.0025°. This allows cantilevered loads to be offset without affecting precision, ideal for test probes or life-science samples. The stage features Queensgate’s capacitive positioning sensors, which offer market-leading 2 nm resolution and 5 nm repeatability, with linearity errors of less than 0.002%. A settle time of just 10 ms enables users to quickly scan samples with no loss of accuracy.

A key advantage of the NPS-Z-500C is its plug-and-play functionality. The stage connector includes all calibration data and a reference sensor, enabling easy installation or controller changes. Combined with the NPD-D-6110 controller it offers analog command input and positioning output (0-10 V, or ±10 V), along with USB, RS-232 and Ethernet digital communications. The DLL interface facilitates control using standard software packages such as Queensgate Nanobench, µManager, Metamorph, and Elements via RS232C.

The NPS-Z-500C is a highly versatile nanopositioning device with applications ranging from high-precision microscopy and semiconductor component testing to astronomy and optical engineering, such as mirror positioning.
