Excelitas Technologies, a company specializing in customized solutions in lighting and detection technologies for medical, industrial, instrumentation, defense, aerospace and security applications, has received ISO 13485:2003 certification for its LED-based manufacturing facility in Wheeling, Illinois.
The ISO 13485:2003 certification is a globally recognized standard of quality that ensures that suppliers and manufacturers to medical device manufacturing companies maintain the necessary quality management systems for safe design, production and distribution of components and devices.
Excelitas manufactures light engines for medical device OEMs around the globe, and the ISO certification further bolsters its capabilities. Excelitas’ Xenon-based light engine manufacturing facility at Fremont in California had received the ISO 13485:2003 certification earlier in 2009.
Excelitas’ Xenon-based and LED lighting solutions are used in various medical applications including minimally invasive surgery with robotic assistance, endoscopy, surgical headlamps, photodynamic therapy, dental lighting and surgical suites.
