Surrey NanoSystems Announces Sale of NanoGrowth-Catalyst System for Optoelectronics Applications

Surrey NanoSystems has sold its latest nanomaterial growth system to the University of Surrey's Advanced Technology Institute (ATI) and the École Polytechnique of Montreal for optoelectronics and other applications.

The NanoGrowth-Catalyst platform is useful for applications on nanoparticles for optical devices and semiconductor, and nanomaterials for grapheme, silicon nanowires and carbon nanotubes (CNTs).

The multichamber design of the nanomaterial growth system offers pure nanomaterial processing states by keeping the substrate in vacuum, from catalyst deposition to material growth. Surrey NanoSystems’ partner, ATI has been utilizing the previous version of the NanoGrowth-Catalyst to meet its research in advanced photonic and semiconductor device technologies.

ATI was the first client to obtain the nanomaterial growth system. Water-cooled chuck and a quick infrared heating process are aiding the company to grow structured CNT structures by keeping the substrate below 350°C.

Montreal will be installed with the other NanoGrowth-Catalyst system to support various research groups from the University of Montreal and the École Polytechnique studying thin-film physics, microelectronics, and optoelectronics.
