AMS Technologies Introduces High Performance Fiber Coupled Laser Diode

AMS Technologies introduces Princeton Lightwave’s high performance fiber coupled laser diode with an exceptional high power of 400mW @ 1550nm.

The laser diode features an ideal light source for EDFA applications to span distances beyond 360km at a wavelength of 1550nm. It is packaged in a hermetically sealed 14 Pin-Butterfly-casing with a closed loop photodiode for power monitoring. To facilitate cooling and ensure repeatable output power adjustments, the laser chip has been peltier-cooled and mounted on a copper block heat sink including a thermistor being incorporated for temperature control. The most common used SMF-28 pigtail fiber is deployed and can optionally be swapped by a polarization maintaining fiber and/or Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) for wavelength precise stabilization.

The high performance laser diode can be employed in diverse applications, such as lidar, test & measurement, medical, material processing and telecommunications.
