Firstsight Vision Releases Latest Common Vision Blox Imaging Toolkit

Firstsight Vision is now shipping the latest release of Common Vision Blox (CVB), the versatile hardware-independent imaging toolkit from STEMMER IMAGING. The latest release delivers one of the industry's first full implementations of Genicam. This enables any GenicamT- compliant camera to be interfaced with CVB.

GenICamT is a central software interface for controlling the camera. With CVB, a developer can now interface to virtually any type of camera as the same application programming interface (API) can be used to connect either to traditional frame grabbers from a variety of manufacturers or to interface to USB, IEEE1394 (Firewire) and GigE vision format cameras. Unlike many software-only products, CVB also supports advanced acquisition capabilities to ensure a robust and validated acquisition. This is essential when developing on-line inspection systems.

CVB's tool set includes the normal tools found in most packages but it also includes unique facilities such as 'manto'. Manto recognition enables a linear output of the classification engine based on teaching of a number of sample points along a linearly changing product feature, and is one of the only tools to be able to reliably classify objects with organic fluctuations in their form. Applications include the differentation of fruit types, the differentation of male and female faces and Identification of defects in surface textures
