Provider of laser-processing systems, Ultratech has announced that it has received a multi-system order from a major foundry in Asia for laser spike anneal (LSA) tools. The LSA100A systems will be utilized to support the 45-nm production ramp of the foundry.
The LSA100A system is designed based on Ultratech's Unity Platform and offers operational flexibility and cost-of-ownership. The company plans to deliver the systems in the Q4 of 2010.
Ultratech has installed the laser spike anneal systems at all the key logic foundries. The deployment of the LSA technology is regulated by demand for advanced consumer devices including tablets, PCs and smartphones.
Ultratech’s VP of Laser Product Marketing, Jeff Hebb, Ph.D. stated that the success of the LSA systems enabled the company to finalize a deal for multiple LSA100A systems to support the production increase. He added that foundries need an economical solution to process diverse product layouts effectively.
