O.R. Laser has manufactured a new IQ Laser with a footprint of 0.2 sq.m, inline laser repair and a small Nd:YAG laser welding device. The IQ Laser has 60 J pulse energy, 6 kW peak pulse performance and an average power of 55 W. The device is ideal for toolmaking and molding and is also suitable for inline laser welding in aircraft manufacturing.
The focus of the IQ Laser can be placed between 0.2 and 1.2 mm on the welding head directly. The pulse time, depending on the pulse frequency of 1.0 to 20 Hz, is variable from 0.2 to 30 ms. A whole series of laser welding wires ranging from 0.2 mm to 0.5 mm diameters can be utilized. The IQ Laser’s camera image features 10X magnification, showing the laser’s accurate point of contact to the operator.
O.R. Laser’s Sales Manager, Eitan Reznik stated that the IQ Laser’s prototype with the inline laser repair concept was demonstrated at the EuroMold fair in December 2009. He commented that 15 min is required for the IQ Laser to position directly at the injection molding device. The laser treatment lasts for 30 min with the post-welding operation taking place at the injection molding device directly. Reznik added that 90 min is required to restart the machine.
