New Optical Media Destroyer from SEM

Data-destruction equipment supplier, Security Engineered Machinery (SEM), has introduced a new 0201 Optical Media Destroyer that can shred DVDs, CDs, ID badges, credit cards, access cards, and other items.

The 0201OMD destroys the disks by reducing them to particles as small as 2.2 mm x 4 mm. The 0201 meets the NSA/CSS 04-02 requirements and can destroy about 2,500 disks per hour.

The 0201 features an Energy Savings Mode (ESM) and an Electronic Capacity Control (ECC). The former switches off the unit after a period of extended inactivity, while the latter visually indicates the in-feed capacity being used to avoid paper jams and overfeeding.

The OMD includes ergonomic photoelectric controls that offer hands-free operations. When the discs are inserted, the cutters get activated and shut off automatically as soon as the material is shredded. If the bag inside the machine is full or the door is kept open, then the cutting head will stop functioning and a light will indicate the problem. The large waste collection bin is made of anti-static substance, which prevents the particles from sticking to it when the bin is being emptied. An automatic oiling system, which is integrated in the optical media destroyer, offers uninterrupted oil flow to the shredder’s cutting heads, thereby increasing the blade life and enhancing performance.
