Amana Contracting and Steel Buildings, one of the leading names in fast track and turnkey construction in the Middle East, has adopted the one-of-its-kind 'Laser Screed' technology for concrete floor slabs in its time-sensitive projects, thereby setting new standards in the regional construction industry.
Cincinnati Incorporated adds two models to its American-made family of linear-motor-drive laser cutting centers. The CL-840 and CL-825 allow users to tailor machine performance to specific cutting requirements for optimal processing efficiency. Both models feature proven, hard-working Fanuc fast-axial flow resonators - 4000 watt continuous power for the CL-840 and 2500 watts for the CL-825. Each machine is available in 5 x 10 and 6 x 12 ft. (2M x 4M) cutting table sizes and comes standard with full guarding for floor space savings over open lasers with safety zone floor mats. Dual-pallet quick-change design allows one pallet to be unloaded/ reloaded while the second is being processed. Pallet change takes just seconds, so cutting is virtually continuous.
Cree, Inc. today announced that Cree and Nichia Corporation have entered into an agreement that expands their cross license arrangements announced in 2002 and 2005 to include additional patents relating to white LED technology and certain Cree patents relating to nitride lasers. The agreement also resolves infringement claims Nichia had asserted against LED products sold by COTCO International Limited, a subsidiary of COTCO Luminant Device Limited, prior to Cree's acquisition of COTCO Luminant Device Limited and its subsidiaries in March 2007.
MS Technologies announces the availability of 80km OC-192/STM-64 DWDM XFP transceivers from Optical Communication Products Inc. (OCP) to support high-density, long distance metropolitan area networking (MAN) applications.
Royal Laser Corp. announces that they have signed a letter of intent to acquire 100% of the equity in Apogee Slitting Inc., a Mississauga, Ontario based steel service centre, for a minimum purchase consideration of 6,000,000 common shares in the Corporation, at a deemed price of $0.45, and cash consideration of $6,000,000. Apogee will be merged into the Venture Steel Inc. subsidiary of Royal Laser.
The new system, which researchers Elizabeth Hillman of Columbia University and Anna Moore of the Harvard Medical School have dubbed a dynamic fluorescence molecular (DFM) imager, is currently being used to monitor the organs of laboratory mice. Hillman is now collaborating with Cambridge Research & Instrumentation to develop a commercial imaging platform that could have applications in drug testing and in the search for tumour-killing cancer treatments.
The first mirrorless optical parametric oscillator (MOPO) has been unveiled by researchers in Sweden. The simplicity of the device with its ability to tune with high precision in the near- and mid-infrared makes the MOPO an interesting option for a number of applications.
NeoPhotonics Corp., a leading supplier of optical components for the telecom and CATV industries, will debut at ECOC (the European Conference on Optical Communications in Berlin, booth 15031, September 17th ¡V 19th) a new tunable laser for DWDM (dense wavelength division multiplexing) networks that performs the functions of any of 200 single-wavelength lasers.
Cooling the skin to protect it from hyperpigmentation after laser treatment actually increased discoloration in dark-skinned patients, researchers reported.
Pinpoint Laser Systems® is introducing the 2D Microgage Laser alignment tool for precision measuring, machine alignment, calibration, and other demanding industrial applications. Roll and web lines, CNC cutting and milling equipment, lathes, stamping presses, injection molding machines, extrusion systems, and other production equipment are easily checked and aligned for improved operating efficiency and reduced downtime with this new Microgage.
