levels, corresponding to only a few thousand of protein molecules, has
been demonstrated for the first time using a hybrid photonic-plasmonic
Whispering Gallery Mode biosensor. Its unprecedented sensitivity is due
to optical trapping of proteins at highly sensitive plasmonic hotspots.
Concentrator photovoltaics technology utilizes optics like curved mirrors or lenses to focus a high amount of sunlight onto a tiny area of solar photovoltaic cells to produce electricity.

An extraordinary galaxy cluster was discovered by the South Pole Telescope (SPT) located at Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station in Antarctica. This telescope was funded by the National Science Foundation. The cluster, which was officially known as SPT-CLJ2344-4243, is called the Phoenix cluster since it is found in the Phoenix constellation.

According to analysts at the Mayo Clinic, leukoaraiosis, a common condition wherein miniscule areas of the brain that have been denied oxygen and manifest as white dots in MRI scans, is not a harmless component of ageing but a disease that changes the brain function in the aged. The online version of the journal Radiology has published the study results.
