The shipment date of the 14.1-inch AA141TC01 TFT-LCD module is July 1, 2010 and the product is priced 80000 JPY with 2000 units produced per month. The price of 17.5-inch AA175TD01 model is 100,000 JPY with a production of 1000 units per month and its shipment date is June 1, 2010.

The operating life of LED backlights is 80000 h at 25°C room temperature. The modules give 800cd/m2 brightness and are used in bright environments and outdoors. Both the modules can be operated at a temperature range of -20°C to 70°C and severe climatic conditions. The mounting position, package size, pin alignments and signal interface connectors of the modules stick to the specifications of previous models, making it easier for replacement. The TFT-LCD modules comply with the European Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances in electrical and electronic equipment (RoHS) regulations.

The TFT-LCD modules are mercury-free and are deployed in the applications involving touch screen, such as digital signage displays, photo printers and ticket machines. There is an increased demand for a wider display and LED backlight products than CCFLs that employ mercury. LED backlights do not require inverters of high-voltage, which need noise reduction and safety measures.

The first company to employ LED backlights in TFT-LCD modules was Mitsubishi Electric. The TFT-LCD module list of Mitsubishi Electric has 18 diverse resolution types and screen sizes, among the different types, 16 of them employ LED backlights. The company will increase the product line-up still further.
