Edimax Selects GEO GC500 Camera Processor to Power World’s Smallest Fisheye Camera

GEO Semiconductor Inc., the industry leader in high performance geometric processing, compression and camera processing solutions, and advanced Wi-Fi and Surveillance networking solutions supplier Edimax/SMAX Technology Co., Ltd, announced that the GEO GC6500 camera processor has been selected to power Edimax’s World smallest Fisheye camera.

Today consumers expect a perfect monitoring experience on their tablet or smartphone no matter where they are. Users need only a tablet or smart phone to enable Edimax’s cloud service to see smooth and high quality video images in real-time from anywhere. GEO’s GC6500 camera processor integrates its patented eWARP® core. This fully programmable geometry processing engine de-warps wide angle field of views, adjusts perspective and rotational misalignment in real time. The GC6500 also integrates GEO’s patented H.264 and MJPEG compression engines that support resolutions up to 5 Megapixel with full HD, 1080p60 output. The GC6500 supports multi-streaming protocols that deliver the highest quality output by adapting resolution and frame rate to network bandwidth.

The world smallest fisheye camera can fully replace current mechanical PTZ cameras to avoid motor repair concerns. Edimax has developed an iOS/Android APP, which supports a rich user experience. The APP supports Fisheye view, Panoramic View, ePTZ (Electronic Pan Tilt and Zoom) as well as patrol mode for NVR applications. This camera also supports D-MIC for good voice recording quality.

“GEO Semiconductor is pleased to partner with Edimax to provide products and solutions targeting emerging markets, where enhanced video quality and wide field of views are requirements. GEO is committed to delivering the best ePTZ solutions to our partners and customers in the IoT marketplace,” said Ronald Allard, vice president of worldwide sales at GEO Semiconductor Inc.

“GEO Semiconductor is one of Edimax’s strategic partners, and GEO’s GC6500 makes for a highly differentiated IoT and surveillance solution for the Home," says Jack Hung, Edimax’s ODM BU Director (SMAX’s Vice Chairman). “IP Cameras are the eyes of the IoT industry and Edimax/SMAX and GEO will widen this view which is perfect for Home monitoring.”

GEO’s product line, including the GC6500 will be demonstrated at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) at GEO’s suite at the Courtyard Marriott LV Convention Center (3275 Paradise Rd, Las Vegas, NV) on January 6th through the 9th from 9:00AM to 6:00PM.
