Avlite Launches ICAO Type A and Type B LED Medium Intensity Obstruction Light to Enhance Aviation Safety

Avlite Systems today announced the new ICAO Type A and Type B Medium Intensity Obstruction Light. The light fixture is a flashing, medium intensity LED obstruction light designed to comply with ICAO MIOL Type A and Type B requirements for day/night marking of obstacles.

The model can be used for marking obstacles or aviation hazards at airports or other tall structures located outside the airport or aerodrome. These lights visually identify obstacles to approaching pilots and are vital to preventing collisions in poor and low visibility conditions or at night to identify telecommunication towers, wind turbines, buildings and other tall structures.

"We know aviation safety is paramount. That's why at Avlite Systems we're working hard to provide our customers, and the aviation industry, with the most advanced, reliable and feature rich products available on the market today," said Lucas Bracken, Global Marketing Executive, Avlite Systems. "We have designed the new ICAO Type A and Type B Medium Intensity Obstruction Light with a small form factor design and advanced LED lighting optics. Offering multiple power configurations, an acrylic lens and a 7 stage powder-coated aluminium body, this product is built to last, reducing ongoing maintenance and total cost of ownership."

Avlite's ICAO Certified Type A and Type B LED medium intensity obstruction light is available in universal AC or DC and will accept voltages between 110–240VAC and 12–48VDC. Avlite's MIOL is fully self-contained, unlike other obstruction lights, and requires no external control and monitoring enclosure. The 12-48VDC version is easily solarized with an Avlite solar power supply and a perfect solution for marking obstacles where no power is available. Optional GSM monitoring is available as well as GPS synchronization for flashing multiple obstruction lights in unison.
