Fibertech Networks Completes Aggressive Network Expansion Project

As one of the fastest growing fiber optic broadband providers in the Northeast, Fibertech Networks today announced it has completed its most aggressive network expansion project. The company recently finished building more than 1,000 new route miles of new fiber networks in Akron, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Columbus, Dayton and Toledo, OH.

The company’s investment was initially made in support of a major anchor tenant agreement. Since announcing its expansion plans the company has already secured additional contracts to lease capacity and services to local businesses throughout each of its new markets. Specifically, Fibertech recently received a new order to build nearly 200 new miles of fiber throughout its Ohio markets.

“High-speed data and bandwidth demand nearly doubles every year, as evidenced by the continued growth of wireless, mobile, cloud computing, and large data transmission and storage,” said John K. Purcell, Chairman and CEO of Fibertech. “Fibertech’s newly deployed fiber backbones offer an alternative to the previously available networks in place and provides unprecedented control and growth to meet the growing broadband expectations of businesses.”

The company’s service offering encompasses both dark fiber and optical broadband options to area businesses that have predominately used traditional carriers and lines in the past. The company’s complete optical solutions portfolio of services focuses on point-to-point and multi-point Ethernet service in speeds ranging from 5 Mbps to 100 Gbps; DWDM; dedicated Internet access; and collocation.

“As information technology and networking needs continue to grow, it’s pivotal for metro areas to have alternative fiber infrastructures for diversity options,” added Mike Hurley, vice president of Sales and Marketing, Fibertech. “We expect our investment in Ohio will provide increased facilities-based telecommunications competition and help make the community’s we serve a more attractive environment for business through this significant private investment in broadband infrastructure.”
