GigOptix's New LX8240 Modulator Being Commercialized in Optical Communications Markets

Sanmina-SCI Corporation recently declared that its collaboration with GigOptix has been expanded. GigOptix delivers electro-optic components of increased efficiency, leveraging high speed, consistent information streaming.

Besides, Sanmina-SCI is a Production Solutions Company that manufactures complex and versatile mechanical, electronic and optical products.Following the fabrication of optical packaging, Sanmina-SCI has started commercializing the advanced 100G Coherent TFPS Optical Modulator called LX8240 of GigOptix.

The LX8240 uses GigOptix's proprietary Thin Film Polymer on Silicon (TFPS) technology and is well-suited for applications including long-haul and ultra-long haul optical transport and in metro due to its versatile features such as ultra-small form factor, reduced power consumption and low insertion loss. The GigOptix- owned TFPS technology is being powered and controlled by a modulator to enable minimal utilization of power in the least footprint modulator existing in the markets.

The optical and microelectronics division of Sanmina-SCI focuses on formulation, production, commercialization, and validation of complex optical and RF products and components. By expanding Sanmina’s services in the regions of America and China, the global footprint of its division can be synchronized to ensure a safer supply chain that prevents the companies from recession with component availability, thereby offering the premier total-landed cost solution.

The optical solutions of GigOptix and Sanmina-SCI will be displayed at the OFC/NFOEC conference, scheduled between March 4 and 8, 2012 in the Los Angeles Convention Center. Sanmina-SCI will highlight its design, industrialization and modification potential.
