Apex Tubulars Uses Laser Measuring Device for Inspection Program

Apex Tubulars, a provider of offshore and onshore inspection services, has invested in CorDEX Instruments’ handheld LaserMETER 3000XP to help in its inspection program.

The laser measuring unit has been approved for utilization in explosive regions, making it suitable for petrochemical and mining industries. It is encased in aluminum and can withstand adverse environments. It also features simple operating functionalities and is suitable for workers wearing gloves and protective clothing.

The laser meter’s flameproof design includes a backlit LCD screen that is impervious to impact and incorporates an exchangeable battery pack and on -static overmold. It can measure maximum distances of 100ft and can calculate volumes and areas. Apex Tubulars’ operations manager, Gary Park stated that the company was impressed with the laser measuring device because of the CSA and ATEX accreditation that amounts to it being used without hot permits in offshore as well as in onshore in the inspection compound. He added that the device’s handheld design offers overall accumulative length, thereby improving accuracy and saving time.
