Edmund Optics Introduces Mid Wave IR Achromatic Lenses

Provider of optical components, Edmund Optics has rolled out a new range of achromatic lenses that are ideal for researchers and designers working in the 3 to 5 µm spectral area.

The TECHSPEC Mid Wave IR achromatic lenses offer near diffraction-limited performance over the 3 to 5 µm spectral region. The lenses are suitable for applications in MWIR, Spectroscopy and FTIR Thermal Imaging. It can also be utilized with tunable QCL lasers.

The achromatic lenses come in four 30 mm diameter models with 75 mm, 60 mm, 50 mm and 40 mm focal lengths. They are coated and color-corrected for high energy throughput over their 3 to 5 µm spectral range.

Edmund Optics' flexible doublets have Silicon and Germanium lenses that are aligned inside a robust anodized aluminum barrel.

The lenses offer substantially enhanced performance over singlets. This enables designers in the defense, scientific, medical, and industrial applications to utilize the quantum efficiency and complete dynamic range in the mid-wave sensors.

Edmund Optics’ Senior Product Line Manager, Gregory Fales stated that the lenses offer a smaller focused spot and provide extra energy for high-resolution images.
