Omnitron Introduces Media Converter with PoE Technology

Supplier of fiber-optic connectivity systems, Omnitron Systems Technology has introduced a new media converter that features the Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology.

The OmniConverter supports IEEE 802.3at (PoE+) standard and multiple port configurations. It is available in several variants, from Fast Ethernet 100BASE-FX fiber to 10/100 UTP and Gigabit 1000BASE-X fiber to 10/100/1000 UTP.

The OmniConverter offers power to one or two Powered Devices by utilizing the same UTP cables. It allows powering devices in demanding locations where there is restricted access to alternative current power outlets. The media converters can support the 802.3at (PoE+) standard and the 802.3af standard. The 802.3af models offer a maximum power of 15.4 W per UTP port, while the 802.3at models offer a maximum power of 25.5 W for IP cameras.

The OmniConverter is available in various port configurations such as UTP ports and dual or single SFP ports. Models incorporating two SFP ports support applications that need sub 50 ms switch in case of a fiber failure and comes with an optional 100 – 240 V AC power adapter.
