Carmanah Technologies, solar technology provider, has announced that the City of Bethany has purchased 52 solar LED flashing beacons to enhance the safety of the district school zones in the City.
Carmanah has provided the R829 dual-flashing amber LED solar traffic beacons for the school zones. The solar flashing beacons are developed specifically for school zone applications and will provide improved safety for Bethany students.
The City opted for Carmanah solar LED flashing solution to check traffic disruption in the affected areas. The solar LED flashing beacons will help reduce the speed of vehicles entering the school zones from the surrounding areas. The solar flashing beacons were installed in early September 2010.
The City of Bethany has used designated speed signs in the school zone area. The dual-flashing solar LED beacons were used in the signage. Studies have demonstrated that marked signage accompanied with flashing beacons improve visibility and minimize vehicle speeds as much as 5-7 mph.
The Carmanah R829 solar flashing beacons remove the necessity of wiring or trenching at the site.
