Xicato Announces Expansion of Artist Series LED Module Portfolio

Xicato, a leading developer of superior light quality from LED modules, announced today that is has expanded its Artist Series® portfolio of LED modules, adding a 2000-lumen module to give interior designers and lighting professionals the option to offer high-quality light in general lighting applications. Installations with higher ceilings, i.e., greater than 10 feet (3 meters), and fewer light points can now accommodate a better grade of lighting than is possible with fluorescent or ceramic metal halide (CMH) sources.

High-Tech Laser Cutter Capable of Etching Metals and Cutting Through Various Media

A new, state-of-the-art laser cutter stands in a room off of the Department of Visual and Dramatic Arts’ workshop on the second floor of Sewall Hall. The price tag: $8,000 — a fraction of the cost of a factory-built laser cutter. The “good deal” comes courtesy of seven Rice undergraduate students. They built the laser cutter in fall 2012 as part of Visual and Dramatics Arts Visiting Lecturer Mike Beradino’s The Art of DIY course.
