Corneal Associates Offers Advanced iFS LASIK Refractive Surgery

Dr. Theodore Perl, Medical Director and Surgeon of Corneal Associates of New Jersey, has introduced an innovative refractive surgical procedure called the iFS Advanced Femtosecond Laser.

The iFS LASIK is an advanced surgical procedure that provides improved safety, reliability and accuracy. Surgeons normally use a microkeratome knife during the LASIK surgery, but the iFS LASIK technology enables them to utilize a laser, which results in lesser inflammation within a fraction of a second. The iFS LASIK is customized for individual cornea.

Majority of patients who underwent the iFS LASIK experienced improved vision following the surgery. In view of its high reliability, the U.S. Navy and the National Aeronautics and Space Agency (NASA) have approved the LASIK procedure for pilots and astronauts.

Corneal Associates recently performed an iFS monovisionLASIK surgery on an Olympic skater, JoJo Starbuck. After the procedure, she experienced improved vision. The iFS monovisionLASIK surgery rectifies near and distance vision problems.

Corneal Associates is the first eye care provider to offer the iFS Advanced Femtosecond Laser in New Jersey. The hospital also provides a number of vision correction surgeries for individuals who are not eligible for LASIK surgery. Dr. Perl uses an implantable micro lens called the STAAR VISIAN ICL to treat nearsighted problems. The micro lens is similar to the contact lens.

The hospital also deals in cataract surgery that enables patients to see both near and distance objects and nearly eliminates the use of eyeglasses.
