Image Entertainment, Inc. is one among North America’s largest distributors of independent home entertainment and a recognized pioneer of the optical disc industry.
The company declared that it has signed a distribution agreement on a long-term basis with the Extreme Cagefighting (WEC).
Image Entertainment’s Chief Acquisitions Officer Bill Bromiley stated that the agreement provides Image, the exclusive rights for U.S. and Canadian DVD and Blu-Ray for selected WEC fights.
Bromiley added that WEC fights have a huge fan following that can be noticed from the highly rated programming. The entire facets of WEC fighters’ careers are being loved by the fans, and the company intends to provide them with ample content for entertainment.
The Vice President of WEC Peter Dropick commented that by joining hands with the Image Entertainment they are constructing a DVD library for entertaining the fans.
On July 20, 2010, Image intends to launch the first DVD named “ALDO vs. FABER”. This follows the significant pay-per-view event held in Sacramento, California, on April 24, 2010. In one of the most power-packed featherweight title fights of all time, top pound-for-pound fighter and champion Jose Aldo fought former world champion “The California Kid” Urijah Faber in front of a record crowd of above 14,000 fans. In the later part of the evening, the crowd witnessed the rematch of the 2009 Fight of the Year between the lightweight champion Ben Henderson and “Cowboy” Cerrone. Also, Leonard Garcia battled against “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung, which was called “the fight of the decade.” The DVD and Blu-ray release of July will feature the entire 11 fights, with unseen special features and additional footage.
