Axsun Expanded their Optical Monitor Product with Channel Power Monitor

Axsun Technologies Inc., a leading developer and manufacturer of advanced photonic components and subsystems, today announced further expansion of their industry-leading OMx(TM) optical monitor product family with the introduction of the Channel Power Monitor (CPM), Optical Power and Wavelength Monitor. Introduced for the first time at the European Conference on Optical Communication (ECOC) in Berlin, Germany, Axsun's new optical monitor product delivers the right balance of performance, scalability and economics needed for cost-conscious metro applications.

First deployed in optical networks in 2001, Axsun OMx monitors are currently used in over half of all new telecommunications systems employing optical monitoring, covering Metro/Regional, Long Haul, Ultra Long Haul and landed submarine spans.

The CPM provides all the scalability of the OMx family, supporting 50GHz, and even 25GHz channel spacing, with a flexible power detection algorithm suitable for mixed 10G/40G spectra and complex modulation schemes. The CPM will continue to offer industry leading spectral resolution (200 MHz), and performance with a more economic price point.

"Axsun has grown to be the market leader in optical channel monitoring by offering leading performance," said Dale Flanders, President and CEO of Axsun. "Our new CPM product will still offer the best performance in the industry, at a cost point suitable for Next Generation Metro DWDM systems."
