EXFO Adds WDM-Aware Technology to its Optical Spectrum Analyzers

EXFO declared that its FTB-5240S/B-P Optical Spectrum Analyzers has been complemented with WDM-Aware testing capabilities along with added features like on-graph peak detection level, referencing, and SCPI commands. Network operators, as a result will be able to solve certain issues like accurate from the first time itself, removing the uncertainty of test results and reducing OPEX.

Currently, the operators encounter cost-related and network challenges that occur as a result of the extended approach. For instance, the average revenue for each customer is decreasing; users demand more data and bandwidth, affecting revenue. As a result, the FTB-5240S/B-P OSA's WDM-Aware provides the i-in-band mode intelligent setups that is being leveraged on a per- channel basis. Precise test results are generated automatically always. WDM-Aware eliminates the insecurity about test results and other presumptions. It accelerates and mechanizes the tests, thereby minimizing OPEX. WDM-Aware is an adaptive in-band method in the market.

Higher network speeds up to 40G represent wider channels and longer distances, which deteriorates the channels, thereby raising the filtered noise. The recent FTB-5240S/B-P software addition from EXFO distinguishes noise from signals, making the necessary analysis, thereby demonstrating this FTB-5240S/B-P to be a powerful analysis tool that presents dependable results. A deployment system matures over time and keeps altering throughout its life span. Furthermore, the FTB-5240S/B-P OSA allows built-in referencing in WDM mode. Operators benefit by this essential troubleshooting tool.

Remote access to test tools is being facilitated through the FTB-5240S/B-P optical spectrum analyzer to meet the network equipment manufacturer’s requirements including constant testing, lab simulations, and remote control. This novel SCPI command feature leverages all kinds of operation and facilitates remote construction of the OSA.
