Korean company Magnachip Semiconductor, specialising in the design and manufacture of mixed-signal semiconductor and analogue products has announced that it will supply its display driver ICs to be used in the AMOLED display panels in the Galaxy S2 LTE Smartphone from Samsung.
The display driver uses the mobile industry processor interface display serial interface (MIPI DSI) which has been particularly designed for applications involving Smartphones and the automatic current limit (ACL) that helps in enhancing performance and lowering power consumption.
The display driver ICs will be used in AMOLED panels that have a resolution level of 480X800 and 16M colours. The Galaxy S2 LTE 4.5”model from Samsung uses the next-generation Long Term Evolution technology. According to T.Y. Hwang who is the President and General Manager of the Display Solutions division of Magnachip the selection of the company’s display driver ICs is due to recognition of its capability to design and develop products that are customised according to the needs of users.
Magnachip Semiconductors has been operating for 30 years and has a wide range of patents that have been registered or are pending. The company also specialises in enhancing manufacturing processes and engineering.
