GigOptix, a supplier of optical and semiconductor parts that provide high-speed communication flow, has agreed to supply Delta Electronics with 4-channel 10Gb/s VSCEL receiver and driver amplifier chipsets to provide pluggable products and active optical cables (AOC) services.
HXT/R5 chip-set of GigOptix has been designed to assist numerous applications spanning 1 GB/s to 10 GB/s per channel. The enhanced characteristics of the HXT/R5 series help users to optimize the trade-off between performance and power dissipation of the optical network. Chip performance has been considerably increased with at least 30% decreased power dissipation at 10 Gbps, improved receiver sensitivity under standard operating environments, and extension of improved power reduction and monitoring operations.
GigOptix’s high performance chip set incorporates a 12-channel and 4-channel VCSEL drivers and receiver amplifier chip sets. These chip sets are designed to provide reduced power consumption lower than 450mW for a 40G network above 100m, and reduce the elements needed to employ a transceiver, leading to cost reduction. The HXT/R5 series features pre-emphasis circuitry and programmable equalization in order to make possible several trace lengths along with enabling full programmable control through fully integrated Digital to Analog Convertors (DAC) and Analog to Digital Convertors (ADC) via a two-wire interface as per the market specification.
