Honeywell Introduces Transparent Coatings for Solar Panels

Honeywell, provider of aerospace and control technologies, has added a new product in its SOLARC line of anti-reflective coating materials for solar panels.

SOLARC coating

The SOLARC RPV coating product has been designed for one-sided roller coating applications.

The Honeywell SOLARC materials improve transmittance of light via the glass covering the PV panels, enabling the modules to achieve a higher power output and better efficiency. The SOLARC RPV coating is easy to apply and reduces material use. Glare and reflection that affect the aesthetics of the building are also reduced. The single-sided application also translates into less product usage. This new formulation enables a perfect matching of index of refraction (RI) between the glass and air.

The Honeywell SOLARC RPV has demonstrated high durability in adverse environmental test conditions. The coating increased the transmittance by 4% at 550 nm, and an average of 3% to 3.5% transmittance gain from 350 to 1,100 nm.
