Developer of GaAs-based photodetectors, Advanced Photonix announced that its subsidiary Picometrix would provide its BR-40D high-speed optical receiver (HSOR) for a telecom system provider in China. The telecom provider will utilize the BR-40D 40 Gb/s HSOR for long-haul communication purposes.
Picometrix provides a full range of 40 and 100 Gb/s HSOR solutions for line-side and client-side modulation formats such as DP-BPSK, DP-QPSK, ODB, DQPSK, DPSK, RZ and NRZ.
The BR-40D 40 Gb/s HSOR systems will be used in dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) solutions. HSOR utilizes Picometrix’ photodiode arrays to restrict timing skew, which is necessary for DPSK modulation schemes. DPSK modulation extends the transmission distances with enhanced tolerance to crosstalk, reducing power consumption and system implementation expenditure.
Advanced Photonix’ Chief Financial Officer, Rob Risser stated that the design win confirms the company’s efforts to venture into the China market. Risser added that the company expects more design wins in 40 and 100 Gb/s products.
