MultiTouch Launches New Platform for Large-Scale Multitouch LCD Displays

MultiTouch has introduced its new platform called MultiTaction for large multitouch LCD displays. Using the platform, display producers can develop multitouch, multi-user displays for screens varying in sizes from 32" to 100" and more.

The MultiTaction’s proprietary optical multitouch sensor technology can simply be incorporated into integrated circuit (IC) boards, forming a modular camera system that can increased to a maximum of 100" ultra-resolution displays. Thus, developers can have slender design displays with ultra-resolution up to Quad HD/4K. These displays are expandable and stackable. The MultiTaction is a responsive multitouch system in the industry as it provides a frame speed of over 200 fps.

The MultiTaction eradicates sensitivity to external lighting, a major drawback of optical touch displays. The system integrates shadow tracking/hybrid reflection technology for constant performance in any condition. It also offers a fine edge-to-edge front glass on the display system. Its Cornerstone software enables multitouch displays to read infinite concurrent touch points such as fingers, 2D Markers, hands, fingertips and natural objects. The software enables flexible multi-platform application development such as augmented reality.

The MultiTaction also includes other features such as Computer Vision Through Screen (CVTS), MultiTouch’s hallmark technology that executes Rear Diffuse Infrared lighting via an LCD panel, Integrated Backlight Emitter Camera (IBEC) in which white LEDs are used for backlighting and infrared LEDs for diffuse lighting. In addition, the Matrix Tracking System links with over 100 separate cameras on IBEC modules in the planar backplane matrix to produce one image for tracking. It is harmonized with infrared emitters.

The Multi-Format Tracking Output feature in the platform backs regular formats for tracking outputs including XML stream, TUIO and Windows 7 Native touch driver. It offers intense patented format for OpenGL/C++ development.
