Gefen Rolls Out GefenPRO 3G SDI Fiber-Optics Extender

Gefen, manufacturer of fiber-optic converters and switches, has unveiled a new fiber-optics extender that provides a long-range technique of extending any kind of 3G SDI source. The GefenPRO 3G SDI fiber-optics extender is packed in a compact dongle format and has a rugged design with a small footprint that can be deployed anywhere.

The receiver and sender units are linked to the 3G SDI source. The remote destination is linked at a maximum distance of 20 km away. An optical fiber cable, which has been terminated in ST connections, connects the destination and the source and offers a clear video signal transmission for enhanced performance.

All high-definition and standard SDI formats, including the latest 3G SDI format, are supported by the fiber-optics extender. The device supports various resolutions such as 2k, 1920x1200 and 1080p. The latch locking powers on the receiver and sender units eradicate possible disconnections in the field.

The GefenPRO 3G SDI fiber-optics extender’s metal enclosure enables the system to tackle adverse environments. The device has an automatic output re-clocking and input equalization feature that delivers improved performance.
