Supplier of Quantum Dot (QD) diode lasers, Innolume announced that it has started sampling the LD-12xx-series of laser platform that is based on the Quantum Dot epitaxial technology. The LD-12xx-series is developed as a pump source for amplifying the O-band Raman spectrum.
The laser platform has a 300 mW single mode output at 1100 mA, centered at 1260 nm or 1240 nm. It is packed in a 14-pin butterfly and is equipped with a fiber Bragg grating (FBG) and a polarization maintaining fiber (PMF) to attain high output power stability.
Innolume’s VP of Technology, Dr. Daniil Livshits stated that the company’s epitaxial growth technology allows highly-efficient GaAs-based pump lasers at any wavelength in the uncovered 12xx nm range. The company’s VP of Business Development, Guido Vogel added that the O-Band Raman Amplification showcases as to how the distinct features of QD lasers allow commercial applications. Deploying the Raman-amplified GPON technology would provide network operators the option to expand the network reach, in addition to saving OPEX and CAPEX.
