Virgin Media Business announced that it has inked a Deed of Undertaking agreement with the United Kingdom’s cabinet office. The agreement will allow Virgin Media to offer its optical fiber network to the Government of UK as part of its Public Sector Network (PSN).
PSN is designed to reduce the network spending to assist in the target set by the UK government to decrease the budget by 2014. It offers data and voice technology, in addition to other IT services, to the public sector firms at lower costs.
Virgin Media, as part of the agreement, will introduce the Government Conveyance Network that will be a part of a diverse PSN. Virgin Media has developed a committed PSN unit and has tried to secure this agreement for the past 2 years. Another crucial factor for securing the agreement was the substantial discount on the business prices, because low costs are the basic attributes of the PSN project.
PSN’s Program Director, John Stubley stated that Virgin Media Business is the second firm to sign the Deed of Undertaking to offer a completely complaint network interconnection.
