Global 3D technology licensor, RealD announced that the manufacturer of LED LCD HDTVs, VIZIO has licensed the RealD 3D technologies for VIZIO’s 3D televisions. The 55-inch, 47-inch, and 42-inch VIZIO XVT series Full HD 3D HDTVs will feature the stereoscopic RealD Format to display and deliver HD 3D content.
The VIZIO active eyewear-compatible televisions use active shutter glasses, combining synchronization protocol and RealD 3D lens. The RealD Format is designed on the basis of RealD’s side-by-side 3D display technology.
In addition, the RealD Format integrates right eye and left eye 3D image streams into one channel to deliver HD 3D video to 3D displays with the HD infrastructure such as HD DVRs and set-top boxes. The active eyewear technologies from RealD produces enhanced 3D image, while the RealD active eyewear protocol utilizes infrared communication to synchronize the television with lens for 3D effect and maximum image brightness.
