Kenya’s Retail Bank Implements SecuGen Hamster IV Fingerprint Reader

Manufacturer of optical fingerprint devices, SecuGen, has announced that CompuLynx has installed the SecuGen Hamster IV into the Account Holder biometric identification and authentication system for a major retail bank in Kenya.

The bank enlisted the help of CompuLynx to design an advanced authentication system to verify various account holders without national identification cards.

The biometric solution provides accurate identification and reduces financial fraud. The authentication system comprises a Central Biometric Database, which  stores one biometric profile of each account holder. Every single branch is linked to the database, which conducts fast biometric identification for a maximum of 50,000 fingerprints to verify duplication. The identities of the customers are examined by matching their fingerprints with the stored profile database for transactions involving cash withdrawals. The system is anticipated to reach a database of over 4 million bank customers.

CompuLynx’s Sales and Marketing head, Chaula Ganatra, informed that they are satisfied with SecuGen’s response in delivering a quality biometric solution. The company selected the SecuGen Hamster IV because it is cost-effective and offers superior image quality, Ganatra said.
