Riegl Unveils New LMS-Q680i Airborne Laser Scanner

Riegl Laser Measurement Systems has launched a new, advanced LMS-Q680i - Class 1 airborne laser scanner for the FAA Rotocraft. The LMS-Q680i laser scanner utilizes minimum laser power to attain the Class I rating proposed by the FAA policy. The laser scanner does not pose any risk to individuals.

The LMS-Q680i laser scanner offers a 400 KHz laser pulse repetition rate and an improved point density performance. It also provides echo digitization for complete waveform examination. This echo digitization has now been integrated with signal processing.

The LMS-Q680i provides a 60o field-view and a scan rate of 200 lines/sec, and is suitable for coastal mapping, power line monitoring, city modeling, DEM model generation and forestry applications.

Riegl Laser Measurement Systems’ Chief Technical Officer, Dr. Andreas Ullrich, stated that the combination of multiple-time-around signal processing and echo digitization enables the user to achieve high pulse rate from high altitudes and high measurement densities at the ground level.
