MRC Optics Awarded Precision Optical Components Contract from Lockheed Martin

Photonic Products Group, Inc. , announced today that its MRC Optics subsidiary was awarded a firm-fixed price contract for precision optical components from Lockheed Martin in Orlando, Fla. The components are high-precision aluminum, beryllium, and beryllium alloy optical mirrors for Lot 4 production requirements on the Arrowhead(R) electro-optical system.

Optical Lase Improves Flow-Cytometery Experiments

The first application of optical supercontinuum lasers in flow-cytometry was reported in a recent Nature publication by researchers at National Cancer Institute (NCI) of the US National Institute of Health. The experiments were conducted using Fianium's SC450 white light source based on an ultrafast high power fiber laser integrated with photonic crystal fiber.

New Type of Electronic Ink Based on Photonic Crystals Under Development

The Toronto based Start-Up Company Opalux has developed a new type of electronic ink, based on photonic crystals called P-ink. The new crystal-based e-paper can display colors in a way that current technology has not enabled until now. This promising technology, which is just taking its first steps, could become commercial within the next two years, promising low power consuming, low cost, color rich, electronic paper displays.
