New Ballasts for High Performance LEDs Launched by Luminus Devices

Luminus Devices, Inc., developer and manufacturer of high light output PhlatLight® LEDs, today launched its new ballast line, which includes four new ballasts specifically designed to interface with its SST-50, SST-90 and CSM-360 high performance LEDs.

Ballast solutions for 1mm2 LEDs are abundant in the marketplace, but Luminus’ “big chip” technology LEDs have unique electrical requirements that must be carefully considered. At the heart of the electronic power system driving the LEDs, these new ballasts are designed to provide lighting professionals with ready made electrical/lighting solutions that reduce complexity and expedite time to market. With a voltage range from 3V-48V and a current range from 1.75A-3.2A, they are ideally suited to Luminus’ award-winning large monolithic chip platform.

“This is a significant product line extension both for Luminus and our customers in the application of lighting,” said Dirk Fieberg, program manager, LED Drivers, Luminus Devices. “With these new offerings we are empowering our customers with optimized electrical solutions, which will allow them to quickly reap all the benefits of Luminus’ big chip technology. An exciting added benefit for Luminus is that the ballast product line provides the company with incremental top line growth.”

The new ballasts, LB-030-15, LB-030-09, LB-060-15 and LB-150-48, all take universal AC input, have at least IP64 ingress protection, are RoHS compliant and CE certified.
