Fluorescence spectroscopy is widely used in life science and medical instrumentation, including DNA sequencers and flow cytometers. Portable and handheld Raman spectrometers are expanding the Raman spectroscopy market, especially for on-site analysis in defense and security as well as agriculture and environmental applications. In support of these fluorescence and Raman applications, II-VI Photop’s optical filters feature spectral profiles with high transmission, steep slopes, deep blocking, low loss and ripple as well as high isolation to enable maximum instrument sensitivity.

“Our high end filters, optics, opto-mechanical designs and assembly platforms in China and the U.S. are at the core of our innovations across a broad range of applications in life sciences,” said Guanglong Yu, Chief Scientist, II-VI Photop. “Our technological capabilities and our strong portfolio of optics for spectroscopy position us for growth in emerging life science instrumentation markets.”

The optical filter product line for fluorescence spectroscopy includes excitation and emission filters as well as dichroic beam splitters. Single band and multi-band designs are available over a wide spectral range from UV to NIR. The optical filter product line for Raman spectroscopy includes laser line, notch and edge filters. These filters are optimized for lasers operating at 532, 785 and 1064 nm or other custom wavelength requirements.

These new filters complement II-VI’s portfolio of products and solutions for spectroscopy and life sciences that includes narrow linewidth laser diodes, diode pumped solid state (DPSS) lasers, multi-colored lasers systems, gratings, flow cells, biocompatible precision optics and precision air and fluid temperature control systems based on thermo-electric coolers.
