Seeing Solid Surfaces in a New Light

DuPont today launched its latest collection for DuPont(TM) Corian(R) solid surfaces with the translucent Illumination Series. The Illumination Series, which includes four new colors -- Mint Ice, Strawberry Ice, Lime Ice and Glacier Ice -- was inspired by light, an essential component in today's building materials.

The Illumination Series, the latest collection from DuPont Corian, is innovative technology in translucent surfaces.

When lit from behind, the colors allow much more light to pass through than other colors from Corian(R), combining the many dimensions of light with a material that can be formed, bent, textured and cut, and allowing builders to create stunning, yet unexpectedly imaginative, sensorial environments.

Schuler, vice president and general manager -- DuPont Building Innovations. "In addition to the existing benefits Corian(R) offers, consumers can now see Corian(R) in a whole new light. This is another example of how DuPont continues to use science to provide new opportunities for architects and designers, and to offer new experiences for consumers."

The DuPont(TM) Corian(R) Illumination Series is available in North America through DuPont distributors. It also is available in Europe and will soon be available worldwide.

DuPont(TM) Corian(R) is nonporous and does not promote the growth of mold, mildew or bacteria, and carries a 10-year residential installed transferable limited warranty. Scratches are easily removed without marring its beauty and uniformity of color. Available in a wide range of colors, Corian(R) can be thermoformed into custom shapes and contours, sandblasted, routed, carved, laser-etched and backlit, making it ideal for a wide range of applications.

Non-toxic and non-allergenic to humans, Corian(R) has received NSF/ANSI 51 Certification for food contact and Class 1 (A) fire rating. It also meets all 18 characteristics set by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) for Design and Construction of Hospital and Healthcare Facilities of the ideal surface to help facilitate improved infection control in healthcare facilities.
